Edit ID is a non-linear video editor that allows its users to edit video from the unconscious or Freudian ID. From its roots in the Surrealist movement, Edit ID chooses to reconstruct or remix the film, “Un Chien Andalou” by Salvador Dali and Luis Buñuel. Like the Exquisite Corpse exercise, where one artist starts a drawing, folding over the paper to only expose two lines, Edit ID encourages a similar process. Participants make decisions on how to place video elements, however, the clips and previous work is obscured in a similar way. This allows, what we believe, the ability to edit video from the ID.
